Problem...

Out of all the coding that had to be done in the course the one thing I was really unsure about was ASCII table in how binary number (101101) would turn into words and symbols. This obviously gave me the realization on how computers are the smartest thing next to humans because they are programmed in an algorithm that would just go on for eternity. Binary to symbols and alphabets were quite confusing at first even with the table. After doing some examples in creating words and knowing the history behind the code and repercussions I now finally realize the relationship that each of the programs have within each other. At first it was all just a big mess of things I never knew about. You can tell I'm the type of person who would like where things start and end.

Survival

Finished the two tests. Surprisingly Sociology was alright, however, mathematics was the one to set the bar of difficulty. I haven't even started on my project 2 for CompSci. hopefully it will not be as tedious as the Clock project was. With the CS test finished and still in mind I sincerely hope that it will turn for the better of me.

The End is near...

Cannot believe how fast the entire went by my life. However, it is not the end yet, in most action packed conclusions it will end in a bang. My 'bang' will be the fact that I must endure 2 tests on Nov 28th also finish my Wikipedia Assignment by the 23rd. Plus my SLOG by the 28th. The race between my academics and life itself hangs by a thread because there is much to do but time seems to become shorter subsequently as each day progresses. I used to be a procrastinator in high-school and hopefully it does not follow me into university. Have Hope.

Preparations

The couple of days have been pretty slow, in the case of missing a lecture and quiz due to a Math Test. Only thing to do is to tackle the assignments and get ready for the test.

Seeing my own "Kind"

As weeks when by and I started to get to sink into the course, I found myself between an ample amount of Koreans surrounding me, I knew obviously they were speaking it but when I tried to communicate with them, they knew very little English. This became a problem for me, I immigrated to Canada when I was 4 from South Korea. When you're 4 years old, the language you learned till then won't likely accelerate as the language used in the country you live in for 14 years. Anyways, talking about the subject wasn't as hard as to discussing other subjects since computer science is a different "language". This can be quite useful to me to have people to connect with in order to make study groups. The other group of people I found out are the amount of Chinese people. Don't get me wrong, my girlfriend is Taiwanese, it feels more welcoming that I have that sense of "belonging". We are humans afterall.

First Thoughts

Going into a class full of people I didn't know made me very anxious. It is said that CSC104 Why and How of Computing, was the first step of a beginner, such as myself is to start for computer science. When I heard my professor (Danny Heap) say that there will be a quiz every week, I was a bit surprised at the start but then realized that it would help me focus on the course better than other courses that do not give assignments and mandatory homework. Though I did not know that the course revolved around the history of computers it became interesting to me that the computers today were basically "super-mega-ultra" computers of then. From here I knew i would start to learn more than what I thought I was going to. (Good and Bad way)
